The lovely contrast.

There are many beautiful things to love about our little community.  The redwoods of course; the mist floating inland during a sunny midday; the sound of sea lions barking and the foghorn blowing.  However, these lovely things are offset at times by things not so lovely.

Take the backstabbing, mudslinging, cold-blooded vendetta that seems to be carrying on in the Crescent City Council.  This offers us a great example of the lovely dichotomy that is Crescent City.

Now I don't pretend to know much of anything about the local intrigue that seems to only top itself each time the Council meets.  However it does leave a slightly bitter taste in the mouth every time another story pops up about Councilwoman Westfall's antics.

Welcome to Crescent City

I want to welcome you all to "Coming to Crescent City". This will be a short podcast chronicling my life in Crescent City, California.

There will be a few things you hear here. First, life as I experience it. My wife and I moved here from Portland, OR one year ago. The culture and lifestyle here in a small, coastal town is quite a bit different than we're used to and, in a lot of ways, quite a bit of fun. It's interesting to see the sociological differences between the two different communities and be a part of it.

Secondly, and perhaps more significantly, you'll hear the political and community events that are important to us here.

I often listen to political commentators on the radio and wish that there was some sort of local voice to inform, comment, and generally bring some interaction to the process in a small community like this. Now, I don't claim to be an expert on local politics or any kind of great thinker, but perhaps just one small voice can entertain and inform and bring about some kind of interest in the community.

That's what you'll find here. Enjoy.
